EDMONDS KENDO CLUB

At its May 11 meeting, the PNKF Board welcomed the Edmonds Kendo Club as a new PNKF Dojo with probationary
status. Head Instructor is Kendo 5th Dan Naoaki Tanimura. Practices are Saturdays, 1-3pm, at Frances Anderson
Cultural and Leisure Center, 700 Main Street, Edmonds, WA 98020.

PASSAGE

The PNKF lost a friend when Kendo 5th Dan Hashimoto Hirotaka passed away on May 18 after surgery for a dissecting
aneurysm of the aorta. The funeral was held on May 20. Born in 1958, he lived in Tokyo, but was originally from Kochi in
Shikoku Island. He was a very tall man, specializing in Jodan, who had joined Kamei Kazuo Sensei’s practice-abroad team
twice, one to Alaska, and the other to Seattle, including a visit to Obukan in Portland. His mother is Ms. Fumi Hashimoto
