About

What is the Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation?

The PNKF is an association of kendo and iaido clubs throughout the northwest corner (WA, OR, ID, AK, MT) of the United States. It is structured with a Board of Directors and officers that meet on a regular basis to provide services that the individual clubs cannot provide themselves. The PNKF is in turn a member of the All United States Kendo Federation which is a member of the Federation International Kendo. The AUSKF consists of several member federations of associated kendo clubs in the balance of the United States. The FIK is comprised of approximately 70+ member countries that have national kendo organizations. This number is constantly growing from the 16 organizations that originally founded it.

The PNKF provides the following services to its club members and the individuals that comprise those clubs: seminars, testing with world-wide recognized ranks, tournaments, mentorship, insurance, group practice activities and an open door policy allowing members to visit other clubs. This open door policy extends to clubs all around the United States, not just the PNKF.

The purpose of this website is to provide information and resources to our members. Membership in the PNKF is at the club level, so individuals wishing to start kendo practice need to click on the dojo locator that will direct you to the nearest club in your area.
